Winterised classics
« on: November 02, 2022, 10:16:20 PM »
With the classics away now for the winter, still have this mollycoddled runabout. Quick blast out today before the rain this afternoon. Most enjoyable even at 10C.😂

Cool ‘plate.

Almost tempted to write “Three boats” there for a minute but decided it was a bit rude.

I think the Pan looks really good in that colour and never seen one like it before.

There was at one time so many running around London on delivery work, always so very quiet too.

Now everything moves by cheap scooter.

If you like the colour of Johnny's Pan, I could sell you this  :)

Following on from Steve's 'boat' comment, I took the Wing to a show years ago with a mate on his early 1100 Pan and one young lad, pointing to our bikes said 'I like those other bikes but not them scootery things'

Because my bike is ratty, I get to use it all year round, yay, win-win.  (Although it does have a sticky clutch cable which gets worse in bad weather, must pick one up this week)

Not guilty m'lud,
Not been out on that 2 wheel grey Fergie for a while - been doing cosmetic bits on it on the bench.  That's another one that won't be here long.

Roo,
I have a 400/4 centre bracket which I removed from a guard with a rusty bubble above it (still have the guard and stays too)  Problem is I'm about to go 'darn sarf' on Saturday so won't get chance to root it out and post till after 16th.  If you get one before - no problem, if not it's yours.

Thank you Ian, and a fine motorcycle it is. Unfortunately I'm not looking to buy anything currently as too many "projects" (Mrs K has a very different list of projects to mine  ;D) to work on.

An overriding issue on the horizon though is the consideration of levying emmisions charge on the greater London area in addition to central zone that will place a £12.50 daily charge for any non compliant vehicles when caught moving.

There's a massive amount of ownership that will be caught in this retrospective law making if it comes into being, heard recently that a famous Cafè that's currently right on the edge of the existing zone is considering a move as it affects many clients, hence business  case too.

Restriction here are going nuts though, most streets locally are now 20mph, cycling I can be fined fined/prosecuted for riding on the wrong route through local common ! Family car, older but well maintained and with easily another 10yrs 100 thousand miles in it will cop it for emmisions etc, personal transport wise it's a crap fest really, plus more cameras to monitor/persecute us for minor infringement of any control measures. Moving away is seemingly getting much more attractive.

Ranting, once you start you can't stop it seems. Apologies everyone  :)

The theory was that "historic motor vehicles" would be exempt emissions rules

Yes that's the case, but anything post 1981 (currently) up to modern qualifying is caught.

As an outsider it seems the London & GL areas are not taking into account the means of ordinary Londoners just the super rich.

The planned ban on Gas Boilers feels unworkable to me as Heat Pumps aside from the initial cost are less than ideal in the UK.

We have a Govt that has agreed to carbon reductions that are out of reach. ICE ban ....... I'll shut up it's not really what  sohc site is for.
I would vote for the keep ICE & Gas Party never mind UKIP.
Honda CB500 K1 (new pit dug out ready)
Honda CB400 four super sport (first money pit)
