Getting out as often as possible when the weather is dry. Lovely ride out this morning with a stop off for a cuppa at Wickenby Aerodrome.

Nice bikes of course, but nice jets too!
The Hawker Hunter, beautiful. We had the last four of them in RAF service with us in Gibraltar back in the 1970s. During an amphibious exercise with the Navy we had one of them coming over us at mind you head level as we waded onto the beach, what fun!

You should come and park up in the spotters car park here at RAF Coningsby Phil. Typhoons all up and doing their thing here again today, the noise is fantastic, especially the performance take offs.

Must be the same one that I went on holiday to when I was knee high to a grasshopper, I could not understand how the aircraft flew without propellers, it was very confusing.

When I was at Boscombe Down the Hunters from Yeovilton detached to us for a while so that their runway could be resurfaced. One came back from a sortie with a full emergency - his canopy had blown clean off at low level!
Must have been squeaky bum time when it went.
