Honda seem to strenuously protect the Honda logo, which as you say Nigel is a Trademark not copyrighted. Plus my daughter has just been made a partner in a large law firm so she can always defend me  ;D ;D ;D

My badge isn't the same as the original badge, it's just a collection of letters and numbers arranged in a certain order using a similar font. It's also cloth not plastic, it's also worth noting that you cannot seem to find non genuine tank badges but there are plenty of side panels badge copies circulating and advertised on Ebay, you can also buy 500 aftermarket side panel badges sold by DS and we all know he doesn't fall foul of Hondas legal dept.

Roo I spotted this the other day when I was originally looking, not as good as mine should be and more expensive as well, plus only the F part is embroidered so when it gets washed the printing will fade over time.

It is not just the Honda logo, it can be a bearing, decals without the Honda word on it and so on. It also depends on the county of manufacture and were it is sold from.

Well as DS are selling copies of these badges I think I'm safe.

Mine is roughly the same as Supermarkets selling own brand stuff that looks almost the same as the brand name but it isn't.

Is Sliver sell them then, he will have a licence in place with Honda to do so. DSS have been taken to court quite a few times by Honda so, Sliver has learnt the power of the Honda lawyers.

Bryan used to deal with a company in Canada that did decals and i know they were fined a large amount of $$$$

Well I can say that research has shown they do not own the trademark of the words 500Four, even if it did it would ONLY apply to products made of the same material, they own trademarks for example of the word Valkyrie, they had to trademark examples of what was allowed and what wasn't. One was the definition of books and the other anything on paper like pamphlets, which you would think also applied to books but no it didn't, they were forced to trademark it especially so you couldn't use the subject in books or decals.

They don't appear to have trademarked any of the words you'd expect, 750 four also isn't trademarked. They did trademark the letter H though but it only applies to anything resembling their version of the letter or we couldn't use the letter H in any writing, which of course would be ridiculous, you cannot trademark something in common use. For instance the soap powder Surf is trademarked but if I was to say I want to go and surf they can't do anything about that, if I was to have a badge made saying born to surf, they couldn't do anything.

I never mentioned Trademark  :o It will be under Patent and copyright law . As i have already mentioned, Honda have lots of parts under patent laws in the UK including Bearings, decals and many, many other parts that don't have the word Honda on them  ;)

I have a Business lawyer that specialises in patent and Copyrights for a reason. You can not even have crank cases made in the UK that are registered by Honda, When i was doing loads of crank case repairs i looked in to it.

Think he’s gone to ground to hide from the ‘badge making Po-Po’ in case they get a tip off and come looking. There’s probably a crowd of ‘Honda peasants’ and associated villagers collecting at his gate, bearing farming hand tools and flaming torches, shouting for justice

In the UK a patent lasts for 5 years you can renew it up to a maximum of 20 years.

Copyright can be far reaching.

Reminds me of Dragons Den on TV. The 'entrpeneaurs' always ask the poor saps who have 'invented' a new tool, app or service etc if they have applied for and have a patent in place for their 'product'. If they have the Dragons jump on it and demand 60% of the company as they are bringing their 'expertise' to said product. So the poor saps have done all the hard work, spent their life savings etc only for these ultra rich business people to turn up and cream off the profits. On the other hand, if the poor saps haven't got a patent they get no investment! I know of somebody who was 'invited' to take part in this show and the 'deals' are done well before filming, the show is just a sham. Anyway, the deal he was offered was so bad he told them to shove it. He didn't make it to air!

I'll get Mrs K to bake you a cake with a hacksaw blade inside Ken .

More correctly Mrs K will sub it out to me  ;D I'm good for "Dundee" type cakes after plenty of practice.

Well it may be Dundee, but probably that's food of regional origin now, with London made dundee cake likely to infringe some law, somewhere. Dont grass me up if you get caught with illicit dundee cake.

 ;D

I was at a social event the other week, one in three of the breed in attendance, highly unusual  :) a bus driver, a plumber and engineer no less.

On a more serious note, I've spent most of my driving life speeding to try and get the average speed of the breed higher than most observers would think appropriate.

Patron Saint, Nigel Benn, environmental spokesperson Nigel Planer, Posh Totty Nigel Havers, breed treasurer Nigel Lawson, super Posh Totty Nigella Lawson, with cakes on top !

Watch it ! We're organised you know. And, of course, a prime minister in Nigel Farage  ;D ;D :D
