Ready for it`s mot....

Don`t want a showroom example as i`m going to ride it, hopefully, 23000miles from new, 2 owners and stands me at £150 plus LOADS of hours. Mudguards are made from what was left of the originals.

My mate had a red one back in the 70's. They went pretty good two up.
In fact, I think it was the only one I ever seen. Thousands of CD's though.

Memories...  Had the pig ugly CD model and hankered after the twin carb CB like yours.

Really like the CL version now as well - must be my age / cenility !

One day I'll have the time to restore it, not just talk and dream....

If I was still testing the number plate would fail as its nearly horizontal so not easy to read

Where does it state the number plate angle please?

Out of interest, and devoid of any personal thoughts, preference or opinions, on what grounds could you have failed it?

is not fixed vertically, or as close to vertical as is reasonably practical.

Cheers, a useful link there.

How about this, it`s as vertical as is reasonably practicable....due to the mounting bracket and wheel clearance....apparently  :o

I usually get a right git for testing, I would put something suitable on for test then change it after.   ;)

Great little bikes. Anything with a roller bearing crank goes on for ever,if looked after. In 2003 took a CD250U to Greece as a challenge. Arse felt like it had been on a spanking weekend in Amsterdam by the time i got to Italy.

It is reasonably practical to make a different bracket and remember that at one time it had to be flat and vertical with no tolerance whatsoever.

Even if you got an MOT somehow every plod and his brother will stop you on the grounds that they can't read the plate and whilst stopping you will go through the bike looking for anything else they can find!!! Do you really want that agro?

Bryanj is right. I would pass it, but would wright it down as an advisory just to cover my arse. Try making a little bracket to side mount it (facing rear). The police are a little funny about licence plates that can only read by pilots, should have no complaints from the helicopter police.

Awesome bike for £150 I can't even buy a knackered cg for that.

Trig that's not much of a challenge I used my old 250u on 110 mile round trip for nearly a year all I did was change the oil.
Try the same trip on an Aprilia I broke down three times when going to Spain.
Shes sat in the garage unused ever since
Current bikes
Honda CB750k1 Valley Green Metallic
Honda CB750k1 Candy Gold
Honda CB550k Candy Jade Green
Honda CG125

Kawasaki EX650R (Mine until dave pays for it)
Kawasaki ZXR400 J

You should of kept the CD250u, I gave mine to a mate this summer and it's still going strong in Greece. The challange was not just the ride. My mate bought the bike for his missus in 1988, she got pregnant and never touched it, i kept asking him how much he wanted for it, but always got the same answer, "It owes me too much". In 2003 i did some work on his drag bike, getting it ready for Santa Pod. He didn't like my bill so gave me the CD250U. It had stood for so long that the center stand was solid. Two new tyres, a oil change and 3 cans of WD40,and it was back to life again. 2300 miles in three days later the old CD250 was used to get me to the beach and back.
