Progress, or lack of it...
« on: January 29, 2014, 08:06:19 PM »
I need some motivation.....
Apart from a pile of expensive parts, this is all I've got to show for about 18 months part time effort, a re finished frame, a couple of brackets to mount CBR600 rearsets.
The last pic is the look I'm aiming for, but its motivational value is declining..

Keep at it Pete. Get stuck in and it could be ready for the late spring.

Pete,
The job is for sure daunting if only considering the end product. Like the SAS (whoever!) crossing a desert... to look at the horizon is miserable, and the best way to cope mentally is to look down, ie one step at at time. So, perhaps 'forget the project' and simply set / concentrate on small bite-sized tasks; that eventually will all come together...
This all said, if your hearts gone outta the project and its making you unhappy...
Good luck in all eventualities...

It's all clean and shiny.    8)
I really enjoyed that part of my rebuild when it all started coming together. Once you get a few more parts added to the frame you will change your outlook.
If you get the wheels on, it will make a big difference to your mentality. Keep at it man, it will be well worth it.
Good luck.
'Then' and 'than' are completely different words and have completely different meanings. Same with 'of' and 'have'. Set and sit. There, their and they're. Set/sit. Bought/brought FFS. Bloody Americans.

I am in a similar position as you Pete, very little time or money plus cold garage equals no progress. At some point the enthusiasm comes back and it will get done.
Love the 500 and 550 have a 500 called Lazarus under restoration

I think its all been said, set yourself up with some bite sized tasks, take a pic before, and then one when you have completed each task. good idea is to put the project pic somewhere where you can see it daily (maybe on the sun visor of your car) with some pics of the completed items. Its a good reminder of whats to come. also maybe place some pics of before and after (small tasks) on this site? the guys are great, helpful, and will give you all the motivation you need.
best of luck and keep up the good work, you will get there!

The garage can be bloody miserable this time of year.... clear the kitchen table & lace up new wheels, cover the seat, fabricate the loom, polish all those little bits so that they can bolt straight on when the times comes...anything you can think of that can be done in the house & won't quite put the missus into orbit...
