Honda did sell a version of that hideous pile of shite over here, in several different capacities, even a 125 version I seem to recall. They certainly sold very few of the 750 Shitehawk over here, my good lady has a 650 Shitehawk (only because of the low seat, she's a shortarse!), then there were the CM 250/400 (vomit smiley needed Steve!) and of course, the CX based SilverWing, the CX was ugly (long lasting engine though) but jesus, what were Honda thinking calling it that?:o

Wouldn't mind but they've spent money refurbishing it. Says buyer collects, should I send the scrap man round for it. Lol

Thanks for the reminder of those days models did not remember them but you are right.
when Honda started using the slipper blades instead of rollers they went down in my estimation.The 500/4 was fine then all of a sudden they started to crack even break especially the G5 range.

I have seen and even owned worse looking machines. Anyone remember the Suzuki fz 50 moped. I got the piss taken a bit in collage when my gs125 blew up and I dragged that out, but it sure beat walking and was so incredibly un cool that I considered it cool. I wasn't in the least ashamed of it, the lads who mocked it had Norton t shirsts and the like but no actual bike with an engine, and I was doing 75 miles each way every weekend to go to work so was probably clocking up more miles than even the few who had bikes, especially through winter.then there was my bmw ex police bike, 1978, fully faired aircooled twin, a bike that fell from the top of the uglh tree, and hit every branch on the way down, but it handled brilliantly, was really reliable at starting and turned out after 10k miles to have the gearbox output held together with superglue( or something like that) by the last owner, not so reliable then.
Got a 500/4 with rust and a sidecar and loadsa bits. nice and original and been round the clock

The silver wing was sold to people that could not afford a Gold wing. Nothing wrong with a CX ! Was one of the top selling Honda's years ago. Still never met anyone that bought one new ;D

I see nothing wrong with that nighthawk but, i am a biker and will use anything on two wheels. Does not mater if it is a C50 to a Goldwing.

As most of you say, there's no accounting for taste.
To help Trig through his day, I bought a brand spanking new CX500A on Jan 16th 1980 and put over 35000 miles on it in less than 3 years.  I added Sigma panniers and top box and really got the Continental touring bug.  Saw a new GL500 Silver Wing in Meppel, Holland but too dear for me back then.  I now have a Gold GL1500SE Gold Wing - our 6th.  Now done well over 100,000 Wing miles, as you say, no accounting for taste!!

I bought this one new. I think in 1982 (Y Reg.). It was a great bike. I uprated the preload and fork oil. Fitted K&N pod filter, Alfa 21 pipe and up-jetted the carbs. I could burn off most my mates bikes on the straight and round corners. I think it was 120mph on the clock and handled better than the Plastic Maggot. Completely reliable too.

The customs handled better due to the 16" rear wheel. I did a race engine for one of the lads that worked at chasbikes with gas flow heads, hi-lift cam, lightened fly wheel ect, ect. That motor rev ed like hell.
