K8 rear brake wear indicator pointer
« on: February 14, 2015, 05:28:38 PM »
Does anyone know what is correct part number.

CMSNL show item 8 as a brake rod, DSS have same problem.

http://www.cmsnl.com/honda-cb750k-750-four-k-1978-usa_model7244/partslist/F++10.html#results

CMSNL have same description on K7.

Original one seems to have run away to start a new life for itself ;)

Just goes to show how useful it is to take lots of before images.

There I was thinking that the pointer had done a runner only to find it was not there when I got the bike :-[

There Is a story about them mate.

When the shoes wear and there is no adjustment left you can't move the arm round a spline as there is a big plain bit----unless you file one spline out of the arm, but then of course the indicator points too close to the mark so it becomes what is known in the trade as a wheeee bit(place in palm of right hand and throw over shoulder whilst yelling wheeeee!) some times also know as bungmebits

I bend a piece of metal 3mm thick round the brake shoe "foot" 40 years ago on my CB750.
Had to use them also when new shoes were fitted around millennium change!
There were about 0.5mm lining left on the most worn brake shoe!
