CB750 / Oil line crush washers
« on: November 23, 2020, 09:06:25 PM »
Hi...  Would anyone know the size of the two aluminium crush washers sealing the oil lines to the oil tank.   They're not noted as a part in the parts catalogue so looking to see if I can source elsewhere.
Bike is a CB750f (1975).

CB750 / Oil change
« on: February 26, 2019, 09:07:22 PM »
Hi...  another daft question.

I thought I was okay with oil changes on a CB750 but it seems I may have been doing it incorrectly.  Should I use the kick start to turn the engine over a few times to clear the remnants of any remaining oil.  Is that recommended?  Just wondered because I thought that would mean you'd have to prime the oil pump again???

I've always just drained the tank, "sump" and changed the filter

CB750 / rear suspension mounting bolt
« on: February 26, 2019, 08:15:22 PM »
Hi...

A quick question regarding the mounting bolts fixing the rear shock to the swing arm on a CB750f Supersport.  I've tried 1.0, 1.25 and 1.5 pitch thread and none have fitted though the 1.25 nearly did but tightened up (finger tight) before it was fully home.  I'm using a slightly longer bolt for one reason and another or I'd be using the original...

CB750 / 064A slow jet
« on: April 25, 2018, 07:33:43 PM »
Hi,
Nearing the end of my build...yay!!!  Just a couple of things to finish off.  Posted previously regarding dyno testing to get the fuelling right...  general advice is no which I'm more than happy about so I'm dealing with the resetting the carbs... as ver a trial and error job.  Grebbo recommend a relatively local chap that can fine tune the feeling but I'd like to get it there or there abouts...

My problem seems to be the slow jets.  when opening up the throttle the revs can dip to the point of stalling.  The original size 40 jets are 28mm long, the only jets available these days seem to be 32mm in length so it's deeper into the fuel bowl.  The length is in the main body so if required I cut the bodies down to the original 28mm.  Ive increased to number 48's but no difference and the air jet does seem to have any impact at all.  I'm hoping I just need to up the size.  carbs have been refurbed, ultrasonically cleaned etc. etc.

My question is...  How will having a longer pilot jet "body" impact on the fuelling???  is it an issue.

CB750 / Dyno testing
« on: February 15, 2018, 08:31:07 AM »
Hi

Nearing the end of my build and one of the last tasks is to sort the jetting out Anyone recommend a dyno tester who could sort the jetting out on my bike...  usual mods which I inherited - pod filters and 4 into 1 exhaust.  I'm in the Saddleworth / East Manchester

Done the research and seems like a mare to get spot on...

The bike is a CB750F Supersport and I'm in the Saddleworth / East Manchester

CB750 / CB750F Seat - Laser printed??
« on: November 21, 2017, 08:27:27 PM »
Well now.  Thought I'd share this.  After working on a plug and fibreglass mould for a seat I managed to damage the mould when releasing.  I've given up trying to repair the damage (for now) and have been working with a pal on a CAD design based on dims from the mould to 3D print.  I've attached a "png" file - hope it works.  Got a few more details to add but I think it's looking pretty okay.

I'll post some photos of the "printed" final effort when complete and on the bike.

I've a feeling the only thing holding up things now are the electrics!!!

Project Board / 76 F1 SS Cafe Build
« on: May 04, 2015, 09:31:48 PM »
Hi…  Well after posting a couple of posts for help just on tearing down the F1 I'm finally making progress of sorts!  Frame etc. powder coated by "Triple S" who seemed to have done a fine job.

I'm now working on the tank…  I'll be using the original as I like the shape - thought about shaping some knee indents but one thing at a time and like I say I like the shape.  I have welded (well at least "One off engineering have, they've been a great help! with bits and pieces regarding the frame) a "monza" cap in place of the original.  Now I've finally stripped it I can crack on with filling the damage caused by retaining straps during it transatlantic crossing >:( and filling in the ground off tabs which retained the badges.

I've also completed the plug for the home made fibreglass seat…  loads of carnauba wax ready applied to lay the fibreglass for the mould - started shaping the foam at the beginning of winter!!!!  finally got there - although the fibreglass thing looks pretty complicated!  wish me luck with that.

Colour wise - I think I'm going the go for something like the old lotus colours - BRG with a yellow strip running down the middle of the tank and seat…  Nothing to flashy.

Anyoldhow - thought I'd start sharing progress with you guys as it's starting to get interesting.

Cheers

CB750 / Ultra-sonic Cleaner Advice
« on: October 22, 2014, 09:08:26 PM »
Hi Chaps,

Any advice on ultrasonic cleaners…  Looking on ebay and seem to start around the £120.00 mark for 6 ltr capacity which seems pretty cheap (you get what you pay for but I'm not minted!).  They seem to all originate from China.

Any other supplier recommendations gratefully received!

There are a few home made "ultra-sonic" cleaners on youtube…  very Heath-Robinson but seems to have some success but I doubt they really do a the job required…  Such as carb cleaning etc.

Many thanks.

CB750 / 76 F1 frame lugs
« on: October 05, 2014, 12:47:25 AM »
Hi Guys,

Anyone know what the 3 no. threaded "lugs" on the steering-head are for, photo attached… When I was stripping the bike down I didn't really notice them.  I'm thinking of grinding them off as they seem to be surplus to requirements.  The question is, what are they for???

CB750 / 1976 CB750F SS disassembly probs with front forks
« on: July 20, 2014, 08:00:42 PM »
Hi Gents…  Another dopey question so please bear with!

I'm overhauling the front forks.  I've removed the dust seal and retainer with no trouble.  But removing the 6mm "socket bolt" is a different story, rather than being able to remove it to facilitate removal of the "fork pipe" the bolt just loosened and spins.  This is the same for both fork legs.

I've drained them of oil and removed the spring…  Could this be the issue?  Should I have left springs in until the 6mm allen bolt was removed?

Anyoldhow I'm a bit flummoxed, any help would be much appreciated?

On the other hand…  spent the day grinding bits and bats off the frame, unwanted lugs etc.  That went really well!  So off the Barnsley next week to get the seat hoop welded and then off for stripping and powder coating the frame and ancillaries…

Many thanks

Liam

CB750 / CB750F SS rear master cylinder probs
« on: June 28, 2014, 03:29:18 PM »
Hi…

I've just about finished tearing down a CB750F SS to build it back up with a Cafe Racer look…  Not done this before and obviously with it being an old bike coming across lots of screws, nuts etc. which will need some work to undo.

Anyoldhow…  What i've come across now is something that's stumped me a little.  The Circlip / snap ring retaining the rear master cylinder piston has corroded (as have the push rod and adjusting nuts etc) so there is no purchase for circlip pliers to aid removal.

Anyone any advice to get the little bugger out as i'm worried i'll ruin master cylinder by levering out cir clip??  Or is it a case of trying to find another complete master cylinder?

Many thanks.

CB750 / Headlight switch???
« on: March 16, 2014, 07:09:13 PM »
 Hi,

I've just purchased an imported 1976 CB 750F SS for restoration.  It's a runner and not in to bad a condition but needs some work.  Just about to service etc. before working out the next step of how far do i go with it.

Anyoldhow - now for rather embarrassing admission. The head light is permanently on!  I have no idea how to turn it off.  googled etc but to no avail…  the left switch gear has Left & Right signal switch, High & Low beam and horn switch.  The right has off - run - off switch and Start button - On / Off for the head light cannot be found!!

Anyone help me out????
