I would hazard a guess that the piston markings are ingress of hard crap, are there similar marks on the head? Used to see marks like that when piston rings shattered but that needed a destroyed ring groove as well. Ash is the man to listen to on these motors, but like I said I remember way back in the late 70's a racer friend had a cam hardened and reground and it didn't last a practice along with the hardened followers, Damage on the followers like that is probably bad oil flow as people do not clean out the centrifugal filter often enough

An age old memory tells me that the cams were meonitic cast and the followers hardened. If you harden the cam and followers expect a life measured in minutes not years

CB750 / Re: Fork seal - damper bolt removal?
« on: August 23, 2017, 04:47:17 PM »
Early 750 forks had bushes so you could take the circlip out and work the seal out but later ones like yours don't have the bushes so the slider has to come off, workshop way of undoing the allen bolt is a windy gun and long 3/8 drive allen key but putting the spring under tension usually works as well.

N.B

You need a long series allen key

BE CAREFULL removing the old seal as if you scratch/gouge the inside of the leg where the outer of the seal fits it will forever leak

If you use the K3 daily the carbs will be OK, if only weekly a small pain, if fortnightly a big pain, monthly or longer a damn nightmare

Might be pricey but the Honda ones usually last decades

I remember there being a testing page in the Honda manual but you had to use a specific make and type of meter or the readings didn't work. I had a correct meter bought in Yokohama in 75 when dry docking a tanker, turned out to be the right one! Sanwa SP10D if memory serves

I agree with Trigger, its incredibly annoying when somebody tries to pass off something as being what it patently isn't to us but not necessarily to Joe public. I always try to be scrupulously honest with descriptions which is probably why I don't get as much as other sellers!!

The big difference in numbers is because in UK we kept getting K" whilst US had K3,4,5,6, and the engine numbers kept going up

No matter how reputable the shop check if they know that the guides will need reaming after fitting and need doing to an exact size or its a waste of time and money
