Just the other side of the M5, about 1 1/2 miles from junction 12 towards Glos.
Was the Norton an ES2?

no, Model 18.

Also has an 850 Commando which I rode.  Fell in love with that, lovely to ride.

850 Commando, worked on lots of those the last ones had terrible build quality and problems in parts that should never fail, can give you hints on some if you wish

Thank you Bryan, very useful to know.  They are all a bit beyond my price range sadly but you never know.  My friend's one smokes a bit.  I didn't let on  but I thought it wasn't a good sign.

Depends on year but we found there was a bad batch of rocker spindles that wore quick and let excess oil onto the top of valve guides causing oil consumption and smoke, took 3 top end stripdowns to find that!

it's 1976 so it could be that, in which case not so much of a worry.  Seems to calm down once warmed up.

I'm not familiar with the model, does it have valve stem seals?

I've had cars that would  smoke on first start up, then when part warm all would be okay.

Lovely little CB John
It is, minimum work done,

Just new clutch in the motor,

Had to replace rims and spokes, both mudguards, seat cover, new exhausts,

Kept the tank as is,scratches as well

Keep the patina

Runs nicely
