I think they were Danish Tim. I understand they were mainly used by the post office, very underpowered but also very sturdy hence their adoption by the post office. They stayed on production I think until the 1960’s.

This guy used a Nimbus for this gorgeous one-off bike. I first saw it in the flesh at the Bike Shed Show a couple of years ago. Classic Bike Guide wrote a full feature on it a few months later detailing how he built it, amazing talent.
If you look closely you can see he's used CBX550 inboard disc brakes on the front wheel, that's where I got the idea to do a similar set up for my Triton but unfortunately all the custom builders want to do the same now and used CBX550 front brake set ups now cost ££££'s if you can even find any for sale!

Nice ride on today with a few friends. Nostalgic odour riding behind the Kwak’s.

Nice photo of classic multis, back in the day those KH400's were difficult to shake off on a twisty road.
But I seem to remember the Suzuki GT750 kettles being the smoking kings of the time though.

What are the concrete items in the background of the photo, some coastal erosion things maybe?

These ones are stock piled from an eighties project to build a roll on roll off ferry which would have been the nearest point to Scottish mainland. But it was ill fated and miss managed and didn’t quite come off. They are used for break water barriers. Very effective! Was having a chuckle at them checking fuel levels after just 20odd mile.🤭 These are lovely old bikes. Thankfully we are all matured a bit and didnt have to “wring their necks”

My neighbour has just restored a kettle. Yes smokey but very loud with spannies. Sounds great pulling away but tries the good neighbour relationship when revved on the drive.😜🤔🙃

Kettle should smoke much when warm unless crank seals bad, once had a KH 250 that did 15mpg and worked on a "modified" kettle that did 7mpg

Saw this little one at the Nuthampsted Airfield Museum / Woodman pub today. 52k miles but I think they can go on forever.... I've always liked the look of them and it makes me think I have a bit of space in my garage...

We had our charity run yesterday for the Peedie Retreat (a proposed facility for respite for families with cancer and other illnesses by Inganess Beach in Orkney). A mixed day weather-wise - strong, swappy winds and some showers but 128 bikes made it a great day and over £10,000 was raised.
I went on the 550F1 (from James H) but there were quite a few classics - 2 550's from Johnny (no, he's not that clever - a mate rode the other one) living out in the 'Wild West' about 20 miles from the start and finish in Kirkwall, I clocked up just shy of 100 miles and the bike behaved perfectly.  The only down-side was getting a bottle of single malt for being the oldest rider at 76! Hey ho!

What a great run it was Ian thoroughly enjoyed it. When I looked at the outdoor temp before I left the house it was 5.9c wind chill. With this in mind I piled on the clothes finishing off with the waterproof oversuit. (These things are great) Of course you have to remember it renders all pockets inaccessible!😳 and you can forget about a comfort break! When I arrived home about 5 hours from setting off I was about to burst with the urge, of course there is never ever a convenient time to have a zipper jam but it happened with my bike jacket!😡 in desperation to end up with I had to wriggle the jacket over my head like Houdini from a straight jacket only then could I access my under suit zipper!🤣🤣
If only there was a video!! Congrats at winning something Ian, if you keep this up I’m never going to win!😂

I took advantage of the great weather this week and and went for a bimble around Fife.
Stopped off at Crail Harbour for the old pee break.
