Just as an add-on, I mentioned elsewhere that a few months ago I took a spill at less than walking pace. The damage, apart from my pride, was both left hand indicators broken, including severe bending of the rear indicator mount, a slightly bent gear lever, but of course the first bit to hit the deck was the left hand mirror. It folded inwards two clicks and turned slightly inside the bars. Re-positioned in minutes, and suffered a microscopic graze on its outer edge, but being stainless, not too much worry about its good looks.  I think they are worth every penny, but, you pays yer money and you takes yer choice.
