Good to be out on the newly restored bike, 60 miles on the clock now, not venturing too far away just yet though. I have kept the revs below 5000 so far, 4000 up to 30 miles, the shells are original so really the only frictional things to bed in are the rebored pistons. Any tips on a running in regime would be welcomed. The only issue at the moment is a reluctance for the revs to fall back to a decent idle when warm. I need to check the cable routing before I dig deeper. I installed taper roller bearings in the steering yesterday which has greatly improved the feel of the front end, also the handlebars now line up with the direction the bike is travelling, which is a bonus. Never having ridden one of these before, the cornering is amazing, makes my Bonneville feel like a big fat pig.
Went on a great rideout with the bike club. 14 of us in total and did 131 miles. I needed that.
