Fleabay and Car n Classic 74 750
« on: October 19, 2022, 03:09:06 PM »
Theres a tasty 750 just been put on fleabay and Car n classic....and I am thinking....both nice and nicer price. BUT the colour isnt for 74....(but I do love blue, especially on the 250) and the seat isnt original....  Should this really matter???   Hopefully I can some response as I think it'll go quick.

I currently have a 73/74 550 that it will replace as its small!

If this is the one you mean, it's a USA import made to look like a UK bike in the wrong colour, wrong clocks etc, etc. For what it is, it's an awful lot of money. Lots of pattern aftermarket parts fitted.

Yes thats it.  Oh dear.....to my untrained eye, it looks nice, but then again.....perhaps thats why it was done like this, or this "elderley gentleman" was lazy.??

Yes thats it.
That sort of bike is fine if you don't mind paying top money for a USA bike that isn't correct. It'll cost you quite a lot of money to make it correct, there is no such thing as a cheap, perfect bike.

Yes, at a quick glance it does look nice but it's not correct. It seems to have become a trend over the past few years for some people to do a bike up, regardless of if its correct or not, just on the off chance someone may fall for the bling. If that's the sort of bike you're after, then fine but why go to the bother of restoring the engine and then button it up with non standard Allen screws and fit micky mouse clocks and seat, the wrong back end, the wrong colour paint etc, etc ? 🤔🤔🤔. The answer is, it's a cheap fix.

Agree.I would have bought it but for the paint. Why the heck didnt the restorer simply paint it in the correct colour for that year. Shirley (sic) that was just as cheap??  Confused.com  TY for the replies. I shall wait and see what comes up and treat myself to a cb750 for crimbo.

you must look past the bling.

Not just the wrong colour but, wrong tank. That tank is for earlier K's
CX 500 tank badges  :o
Micky mouse clocks
Tons of wrong bolts and nuts
Escutcheon missing from seat lock
Don't know what seat that is
Missing correct oil pressure switch lead
Wrong air box, from a K1
And i could just go on all night  ::)

Front tyre fitted against rotation arrow.

That in itself is reason enough to stay at
least a “barge pole” away.

Wellseal was well thought of in the 1960's - did it come to the market  via Aviation development?

Blurb says:-

Features and Benefits
• Can be used to seal threaded connections as well as flat- faced joints
• Can be used with or without a gasket, depending upon the design of the assembly
• Highly resistant to the majority of commonly used fuels, lubricants and coolants and is non-corrosive and free from abrasive fillers.
