Seat base completed

Quick question
The holes in the base unit, I would presume are for drainage of any moisture absorbed by the foam.

The foam looks grotty where the holes are, so I thought of placing some of that black rubber anti slip stuff you put under doormats. This should allow moisture to escape and improve the visual look when you lift the seat.

It would be a shame to replace all the foam just for the parts where the holes are as it is in excellent
condition

Looks good I always thought the holes were to let air escape from under the cover when the foam is compressed when hitting bumps.

That seat base looks real good, i have read somewhere that you have to anneal the metal tabs/spikes so as they dont snap off when re-bending, however i have done a couple of seats without and all was good

The holes are to let the air escape when you sit on it.
Where's that 10mm socket got to?

Front brake is still sticking
new master cylinder kit
new braided hoses
new piston & seal fitted all movement seems ok
rear retaining arm has free movement on forks
new bolt tension bolt and spring
new pads - pattern could it be they are too thick?

Apply brakes and they don't want to release enough to free spin the wheel

Unless I am missing something ? they should be ok
I have put it down to a senior moment and will have a look later unless there is a something obvious I am missing

Also worth checking the moving pad isn't getting stuck on the excess paint on the moving pad. Often I find removing the paint around the outer edge of the pad with sandpaper, then a tiny smear of copaslip around the outside of it can often help. I assume you didn't have to apply much pressure to get the pad into the caliper housing, as it should almost drop in under it's own wieght.
If it's got tits or wheels, it's hassle, if it's got both, RUN!!!

From your list the only thing left is the tiny pressure relief hole at the bottom of the reservoir

It was a  senior moment
rebled the system and front  is working fine
Working on rear of bike and cosmetics now so project 1 is going well
Front end complete
Electrics sorted
Engine nice and smooth fires on the button
Removed the swinging arm to clean and loose the brush paint on frame and surrounding areas
Back calliper freed off and new master cylinder seals ready to fit
Rear wheel stripped ready for detail and repaint
Side panels sprayed rebadged and fitted
Seat recovered and rebuilt

Hopefully in the next few weeks I will be able to post some pics of finished project

Project 2 - Build from Boxes - To become the yellow one
More of a nightmare tying to source parts mainly, without it being an arm and leg
up to date we have had
NOS Front Calliper from Thailand
Switch gear from Italy
Original exhaust from  USA
NOS Headlamp bracket from Germany
Side reflectors and mounts from USA
Front forks from UK
and a share in Dave Silvers

Quite a multi national bike

Just hit a problem with the rear calliper its been over drilled in the bleed nipple so it won't close off and of course the pistons are stuck

We will get there eventually, but suppose its not too bad for 7 weeks to date

Retirement is great fun when you have an hobby like these

Cheers

Keith Snr

Completed Tank Paint & Decals today

We could not miss this weather apart from a few midges Keith Jnr did an excellent job of striping/painting/lacquering tanks & Cowls as below

We got the Sulphur yellow match, but struggled with candy antares red from our local paint supplier. Instead I choose from swatchs of candy paints available in rattle cans and picked a BMW Candy paint Silver base and Candy Red/Maroon

I don't think its a bad match - Honda badges are just half in for demo purpose on Pictures removing them now before they mark the soft paint

Didn't take any pics of cowls yet

Wow paint looks great you must be so proud Keith. Think the rattle can was used as a 'tester' or swatch Mick, although as I said in another post,  i've seen a superb  Blue/Green  1969 CB750 sandcast done with rattle can's, albeit 1990's formula,
“Alright friends, you have seen the heavy groups, now you will see morning maniac music. Believe me, yeah. It’s a new dawn.” Grace Slick, Woodstock '69 .. In the year of the Sandcast.

Cheers for comments - Can't wait to get them onto the bikes

The lacquer is 2 pack and petrol resistant, (we applied 6 coats) so the finish should be nice and solid.
I didn't know we could get 2 pack in the aerosol, but whole job was done with rattlecans.

The lacquer has the activator inside the can and you trigger the release before shaking and will last usable for up to 20 hrs

That's an amazing job with rattle cans. Never had any luck with them myself, but that's down to my lack of patience I think.

You don't fancy painting my CB350F do you Keith? Am looking for a painter at the moment.

Cheers Roy.
