Yes as it’s movable to a certain degree. Don’t forget, grease the bolts before fitting or you risk them bonding into place over time.

Still working on the Z1000, really enjoying getting my hand back in. Have to take frequent breaks though as I tire quite quickly but it’s getting better every week.

At last I have the front wheel in place so the bike is stable again.

Currently cleaning the calipers, not sure if SS pistons are available for the early Nissin 400 Calipers.PXL_20260829_154437258 by Macabe Thiele, on Flickr

I've dismantled the Calipers, one of the pistons needs replacing, my Superdrean 400NA has Nissin front brakes.

The part number looks like it is 45107-410-006, there is a SS version of this part number 45107-410-006P listed on ebay by Honda Classics (£24.95 with seal) as suitable for the CX500 amongst other Hondas, they do not list it for the Superdream.

I'll message them & see what they say, the piston measures as approx 35 mm long, 38.1 mm diameter on my Aldi Digital (Workzone) calipers.

The groove for the seal ring is full of muck on the inside shoulder edge, its like a sandy type sludge.
I'm sure there was a tip on the best way  to clean these grooves, probably Ken or Bryan.

The caliper half  would fit in my Ultrasonic Cleaner if that might help.

Hi Ken, the one they list for the 400N shows in the details as 4 pistons in total, I suspect this is for a later caliper,
the p/n is 43107-MA3-006P, they are cheaper at £19.95 each, too small at 27 mm. I believe there was a later version that had smaller twin pistons on one side, not sure though.

Use a dental pick or one out of a set of pics to clean the groove, espacially in the corners, dont bother with a dremel all those wire brushes do is polish the crap!.
I would check part number for pistons on cmsnl making sure you get correct model from list, the first number says its a brake piston, second number gives first model fitted too(from memory 410 is CB750F2) last 3 are manufacturer or supercision and the P means pattern

Piston kit does not have the dust boot 45109371006 which is originally a GL 1000 part

£5 extra for a seal and boot seems to be a bargain.

Saying that, I was after the same sort of set for the z1000. For 4 seals, 4 orings and the dust seal and piston seal was around £45 from zpower. For all the above PLUS a new piston and a bleed nipple and cap from Cruzinimage was $25. It ended up being a buy one get one free type of deal. Plus it appeared zpower were removing the piston, the bleed nipple and its cover and charging you another £35 for the privilege of buying from them. They even had some images with Cruzinimages logo still on them. I’m not adverse to people making a profit but that’s taking the piss. I wonder if Dave Silver owns them as well.

I've ordered a pair of SS caliper pistons complete with the main seals and dust seals for £45.67 incl delivery from Wemoto.

I suspect most of those for sale are branded Hedler, at one time I've ordered Hedler brand direct from ebay listings, they appear now to be a trade only wholesale internet firm.

My brother in law came round on his CM400T the other day Ted. Did you know it got linked air suspension on the front forks like the CBX550?

Might be worthwhile seeing if you can find a pair of fork caps off a write off it that idea appeals to you. It has one air valve that pressurises both forks together. I found a set off a CBX550 hoping it would fit the 500 but it doesn’t.

The rear swing arm on the Superdream can rot from the inside.
Mine was showing some light rot.

I bought an as new swing arm from two wheel spares, it turned out it was for a 400T, not the 400 NA SD.
The SD forum said it would fit. I could see the damper mounts were in a different position, it was a tad longer.
When I came to fit it the swing arm I found the rear wheel was off center.
I would have needed a longer chain plus different spacers.
In the end a SD forum member who did my paintwork also did a great repair job.

Too late to return the part to two wheel spares, I also sourced the correct chromed chain guard.
Might be worth putting them on eBay. I'll stick to standard suspension Ken.
