A lot of torque and handles very well, quite an upright riding position compared to the Honda CB SOHC 4'S.

A lot of torque and handles very well, quite an upright riding position compared to the Honda CB SOHC 4'S.

Yes Johnny, we're going to do some touring around Europe this summer so thought we'd buy something we can use two up with room for a bit of luggage etc. It will be difficult me riding pillion, to me as a life long rider, it'll seems sooooo wrong sitting on the back 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Great wee bikes those Transalps, bought an ex demo back in 1987 when they first came out.
That was before adventure tourers became a 'thing' so got a good deal on it as the shop was struggling to sell it on.

Anyhow, went off on a trip to Yugoslavia (before the Balkans war) and had a wonderful time.
Although cheated a bit by using the overnight motor-rail service from Calais to Toulon, then overnight ferry from Rimini to Split. 

Only problem I had was that the carb used to ice up on high altitudes during the evenings, sort of felt like running on to reserve fuel tap, but pulled up for a few minutes until the heat from the engine warmed things up a bit and then away again no problem. 
 
But as I'm sure you already know Julie, they're not motorway machines, better to stick to the smaller roads when possible.

I avoid being a pillion passenger, I can remember years ago trying to strangle my mate who was giving me a lift when he did something I thought was stupid, pure rage, I swore never again.

Pillions when you are the rider are ok if they are used to bikes but bike virgins not leaning with the bike. Aaah!

As a teenager I had a lift home on the back of my best mates Ariel Leader, we had a nasty accident on a country lane. (My Triumph was off the road with an engine breather valve fault)
I spent 3 months in traction in the old DRI on London Road,Derby followed by 3 weeks at Etwall Convalescence to learn to walk again. 
Guess what, I've never been a pillion again, nor have I carried a pillion since that day.

My mate was a bit of a risk taker, I'm sure Graham has the experience to keep Julie safe being older and wiser than a 17 year old risk taker.

Before the accident I did have my younger brother as a pillion a couple of times, I would lean into a corner, he would lean in the opposite direction, a tad Laurel & Hardy.
