Yes you can reuse a solid copper gasket, heat to cherry red and quench in water

Springy thing is a Lucas flasher relay . Spring supposedly isolates it from vibration . Ha ha ha !

two wire, think this is it. I would have liked a replacement zener diode they look good under the headlamp, but the combined reg/rectifiers are reasonably priced, think it’s a straight forward upgrade.

You may find that a modern combined reg/rectifier has to be neg earth.

He also does regulators for neg or positive earth systems.
